Goal and Scope

This policy establishes integrity, privacy, and confidentiality guidelines in our participant interactions. The Disability Services Act, the Freedom of Information Act, the Privacy Act, and the Disability Services Standards are among the relevant laws upon which it is based. This policy covers the programs and services offered by Authentic Healthcare Services.

Statement of Policy

Every participant at Authentic Healthcare Services receives respectful, deserving treatment, and their privacy is protected. Our services will be provided to each participant with the same level of secrecy, privacy, and integrity.

Methods

The following protocols are followed by Authentic Healthcare Services to ensure that we fulfil our privacy obligations:

  • We will only gather data required to deliver services and meet care commitments.
    We will obtain consent from the participant or their family before gathering data from any other source.
  • Before disclosing information to any outside parties, we will get written approval.
  • Only Authentic Healthcare Services employees who require it to carry out their jobs will have access to personal data.
  • Participants and their families will know that Authentic Healthcare Services holds their data.
  • Authentic Healthcare Services has on file information about participants and their families that is accessible to them.
  • We shall only keep client information for as long as is required to fulfil our care responsibilities.

Any issues pertaining to data security, privacy, or confidentiality will be investigated and resolved immediately.

Performance Standards

To meet these standards, Authentic Healthcare Services will:

  • Provide clients and their families with a copy of our privacy, dignity, and confidentiality policy.
  • Ensure staff are aware of and adhere to the privacy policy.
  • Inform participants and their families about the importance of their data and their rights regarding it.
  • Collect information from other sources only with the participant’s or family’s written consent.
  • Ensure client data is securely stored and accessible only to authorised personnel.
  • Regularly review and remove unnecessary personal data from client files.
  • Address complaints regarding privacy and confidentiality per our complaints handling policy.
